In 1977, Plastic Bertrand started his solo career with the hit single "Ça plane pour moi", composed and written by the Belgian Lou Deprijck. He toured Canada, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Europe and the USA, becoming one of the few French-speaking artists to appear in the Billboard chart. He also appeared on a number of major television shows, presenting Jackpot on TF1, Destination Noël on France 2, Due Per Tutti on RAI2 and Supercool on RTBF, which he also produced.

Between 1982 and 1985 he lived in Milan, and millions of Italians followed his adventures in a photo-story of which he was the star. With Daniel Balavoine and ABBA's Anni-Frid Lyngstad, he recorded Abbacadabra, a musical tale for children. In the early 1980s he appeared in movies such as Légitime Violence and the short film Baoum. Working with Vladimir Cosma, he wrote several film scores, including Astérix et la surprise de César (Asterix Versus Caesar).

In 1987 he represented Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Amour Amour. This failed to impress the juries, however, scoring only 4 points and placing 21st out of 22 entries.

During the 1990s Bertrand explored other facets of music, including songwriting and producing, and also recorded the album Suite Diagonal for Sony in 1994 with Jacques Lanzmann. Forming the company MMD with Pierrette Broodthaers, he produced two albums for David Janssen, an album of classic music with a Turkish contemporary influence for harpsichord and organ with Leila Pinar, an album of traditional Balkan music with the Kazansky choir, and a single for Noël Godin, Chantilly c'est parti.

I love love, and I love this song. So why not...



Amazingly, Darlene Love, a superb vocalist, hasn't had much of a track record as a solo singer, at least not in terms of hits. Love was a founding member of the Blossoms in 1957. They did several sessions and were resident singers on the television show Shindig. Love sang lead vocals on "He's a Rebel," which was credited to the Crystals, and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," which was issued as Bob B. Soxx and the Bluejeans. She cut six singles for Spector's Phillies label, with "Wait Till My Bobby Gets Back Home" the most successful.

When I was young I used to hate the Cure. Mostly because of my friends Per and Anders who listen to them all the time. Now that I'm a bit older I do understand what all the fuzz was all about. But I woundn't say everything is good but here are two tracks from the same album. The blood and Sinking.

I'm currently working in mexico, and as everything else over here the internet is really slow, so my planned divshare files will probably be a little less frequent. Simply red

Here's a track i found the other day and strange enough it's a simply red track. A remix, but still. This just proves that good stuff can be found anywhere. So this one is a bit disco, a bit house, a bit cheesy but always makes me glad. And it's 320 quality so enjoy it loud. Great hair by the way

Burundi black

This track is concidered to be one of the first disco songs ever. I think it's far more than that. Anhow, this was made in 1971 and sounds just as fresh today.

In 1971 Mike Steiphenson grafted an arrangement for guitars and keyboards onto the Ocora recording for Barclay Records, and the result was Burundi Black, a seven inch that sold more than 125,000 copies and made the British best-seller charts. In 1978, Barclay released a twelve inch version.

In 1981, the track was re-released on Barclay and Cachalot records. This time, Rusty Egan, drummer with the new romantic band Visage, and a French record producer named Jean-Philippe Iliesco recorded a new pop arrangement over the Burundian drummers.

Mike Steiphenson holds the Burundi Black copyright. Adam and the Ants, Bow Wow Wow, and several other bands have made hits with the Burundi beat as a rhythmic foundation. The Burundian drummers who made the original recording are not sharing in the profits. In any case, as the Jamaican recording industry and the Amen break cases have shown, obtaining copyright for a rhythm is a difficult proposition.

Propaganda

Here's a great track from 80*s band Propaganda. The track is called Echoes of frozen faces and this is the 12 inch version. Super track that will be played tonight.

Synth-pop band Propaganda was formed in Germany by vocalist Claudia Brücken and drummer Michael Mertens plus keyboard players Susanne Freytag and Ralf Dorper. The quartet moved to England in 1983 and signed to ZTT Records, also the home of Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Art of Noise. Propaganda's first single, "Dr. Mabuse," reached the British Top 30 in early 1984, but the band's second release was more than a year in coming. Finally, in May 1985, "Duel" trumped the debut single by hitting number 21.

3 O'clock high

Here's a great track I bought on Sunday. It's from the soundtrack 3 O'clock high with Tangerine dream from 1987. Some serious techno not techno style music and so progressive. This will be played friday for sure, maybe with Alan vega's Saturn drive... I just wished it would be a bit longer, but that could be arranged.

Guru Guru

Guru Guru was both related to the free jazz music scene and both worked with Swiss female pianist Irène Schweizer. Neumeier already won several Jazz-prizes. The band was influenced by rock music, such as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, The Who, Rolling Stones and early Pink Floyd.

Among the band's friends were Amon Düül, Can and Xhol Caravan, with whom Guru Guru played jam sessions.

Frontman Mani Neumeier (drummer and singer) has an original style of playing drums, and is known in the European jazz rock-scene. He was also involved in numerous other projects, as Tiere der Nacht, The Psychedelic Monsterjam, Damo Suzuki's Network, Globe Unity Orchestra, Harmonia, Voodootrance & Lover 303.
