FRENCH ONION SOUP

6 large onions (about 5 pounds), sliced thin
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
1tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 1/2 quarts beef broth
twelve 1/2-inch-thick slices of French bread, toasted
3/4 pound coarsely grated Gruyère

preparation

In a large kettle cook the onions in the butter over moderate heat, stirring frequently, for 40 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Sprinkle the onions with the flour and cook the mixture, stirring, for 3 minutes. Add the broth slowly, stir the soup constantly until it comes to a boil, and simmer it, covered, for 20 minutes. Season the soup with salt and pepper. Put 2 slices of the toast in each of 6 heated soup bowls, top each toast with 1 tablespoon of the Gruyère, and pour the soup over the toasts. (To serve the onion soup gratiné, arrange the 12 toasts on the bottom of a flameproof casserole, heap each of them with 1 tablespoon of the Gruyère and boil it under a preheated broiler about 4 inches from the heat for 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.)

Disco Noir på Lördag och massa annat

Denna veckan blir en riktigt intensiv vecka för Stephen Hawkings, men det gillar han. Mycket bra musik, dans, gott att dricka... och vad mer behöver man.

Anyhow.

Nu till helgen får Underlandet riktigt finbesök från en av landets finaste Dj´s, Anton Klint. När han inte åker runt om och spelar sitter han i studion och producerar musik som Tiedye eller klipper om en gammal dänga som Västkustska ryggdunkarsällskapet.

Med ena foten i vänstra sidan och den andre i osten kommer natten fyllas av cosmicboogierock!

På fredags spelar även revK på Rasoir. Mellan 21-23 blir det lite flummig romantisk twin peaks jazz från 30-40 talet, och sedan efter det drar vi på lite mer med moderna rythmer. Fast allt är nästan modern jämfört med 30-talet. Då blir det den bästa blandningen. Kom och drick goda coctails!

Och på Lördag så är det ju Disco Noir på The Rumble. Och det bästa är att Joel Martin från Quiet Village kommer och spelar!

Joel Martin är nämligen en man som letar skivor mest hela tiden. Om normala skivletare är som svenska snorkelturister i Egypten så är Joel Martin motsvarigheten till Steve Zissou.

Ibland träffar han sin kompis Radioslave och klipper ihop nya låtar av skivorna som Joel hittat i nåt rostigt gammalt hål. Tillsammans blir de mästerklipparna Quiet Village. Namnet kommer från en skiva såklart, en filmisk easy-listening klassiker av Martin Denny.

Det är mycket musik med filmtema i Joels liv. En gång om året så spelar Quiet village in en halloween-mix med skräckfilmstema till www.beatsinspace.net. Filmkopplingarna är även tydliga på deras fullängdsalbum Silent movie där gitarriff trängs med fiskmåsläten. På skivan finns både musikaliska actionscener, dansscener och sweet lovemaking - allt i olika exotiska filmmiljöer.

På lördag kommer Joel från sin hemstad London till vår hemstad Malmö för att spela lite med sina skivor. Förmodligen får vi dansa för Joel tycker om dansmusik från 70-talet. Får vi inte dansa kanske det kommer att bli som en film, fast bara med musik.

På lördag 1/11 är det då dags för Disco Noir #3 på the rumble/inkonst. Mellan 23-03 kör vi hårda läder-disco grejer blandat med upplyftande dansmusik från lite varstans.
